I think a big part of why I read way more fanfiction than books is that there’s just a hell of a lot less exposition

the first 10 pages of most books are always “these are the main characters and here’s some background on each of them and this is the setting etc etc” and it’s such a fucking hassle getting to the plot sometimes

fanfic is just like “fuck it you know all of this already let’s go”

AKA why I don’t write original fiction either…

Chillo, Germsie, I always figured you don’t really dig communiques over tumblr. ‘Sides, I don’t seem to have much of a direction with Elvmon. I’ll let you know if I ever do set off on a new tumblr experience.

Stories

I remember borrowing a book of fairy tales from a library. I kept it for two years right by my bedside and read a few stories repeatedly. I didn’t like going to sleep much then because the only thing waiting for me when I woke up was school. So I kept it for two years, and read it every night when I felt a little down. One day, I decided I wanted to return it. I wanted someone else to read those stories and feel better like I did. So I returned it. The librarian was very kind and didn’t charge me for the enormous penalty. Months later, I went back to see if I could borrow it again. It wasn’t there. A few more months later, I went back hoping to find it. It wasn’t there. Well, I thought, maybe whoever took it will pass it on when the time’s right.

Aikido

Aikido practitioners don’t perceive attackers as evil or someone deserving of harm. Instead, the attacker is simply another person who’s lost touch with his own nature.

Hark, Midgardians!

ask-the-mighty-thor:

It is Thorsday! Come forth, grab yourself an ally — or perhaps even one you might deem an enemy! — alongside a hearty pint of mead and bask in jubilation! Today is a day that must be dedicated toward mirth and joyfulness; and these traits are often aided with gratuitous amounts of mead, hahaha!

It’s never too late.

Bicycles

The last time I got involved with bicycles, I was riding one. It was my first time learning without the training wheels. Naturally, I nearly run someone over. The time before that, I got run over by not one, but two bicycles. It was a pileup, with me at the bottom. A pair of jeans saved me from skinning too badly, and it was all torn up and fit for the 80’s. Good times. Really. We laughed until we could catch our breath, and then I limped the rest of the way back to the boarding house.
